have you still not finished school? When I see you the next time I'll test your math skills!

For a few days now the long praised Pokémon Go is also available in Germany and I, as the eternal fanboy, had to download it right away. My experience so far is a bit disillusioning, because the game is the biggest technical catastrophe I've ever played... most of the time I see the frozen blue loading bar and the stupid Pokémon trainer who walks into the angry Gyarados every moment. Could be you.

But when it works, it certainly can be fun and lured me more times outside than I expected. You walk from PokéStop to PokéStop on the map and even in your direct neighborhood, you still find corners and things that could surprise you. Unfortunately, the game itself explains very little, so you just don't understand lots of things. And I thought, you of all people are somebody who doesn't know much about Pokémon and could use some tips:

• When starting the game you'll be given the choice between the first 3 starters: Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur. In my opinion a clear choice (Charmander), but you can also be the special kid and catch the special one: If you persistently walk away from the 3 pocket monsters a fat yellow rat will appear. Maybe that's more to your liking.
• Turn the game on whereever you go. Besides geographical conditions and special places like hospitals, cemeterys or museums the game also factors in the distance you traveled while playing.
• Definitely take a mobile charger with you! The game devours your whole battery as fast as it decreases from 100% to 99% in the morning. A good idea is to activate the Battery Saver option in the game's menu and also deactivate the AR function while catching Pokémon. This makes it harder to take funny screenshots but at least saves a few percent... and if possible always play with a dimmed display.
• I know, most of the time you handle it differently, but in Pokémon Go you should really only keep your strongest Pokémon. Especially in the beginning you will see lots of Pidgeys, Rattatas, Weedles and Caterpies - even if they BUG you (ahahaha), catch and imprison them in a tiny narrow metal ball. Keep the specimen with the best stats and send the rest via the Pokémon menu to the professor. This way you keep your shed clean and get candy in return. Don't let your mouth water too much: They're not for you but for your Pokémon. With the candy you evolve them and level them up.
• In the beginning you shouldn't level up at all. With a rising trainer level you will also encounter stronger Pokémon and then you will be happy, that you kept your stardust.
• Nothing gives you as much experience as evolving Pokémon - a further reason to catch all the mass plagues. Caterpie's first evolution for example is done by using only 12 candies. If you are clever you collect as many candies as you can carry, activate a Lucky Egg and double your experience points in the next half hour, in which you just evolve everything.
  
• Eevee evolves randomly, except if you know this neat trick: Corresponding to the three trainers in the anime series you can nickname your eevee Sparky, Rainer or Pyro and get a Jolteon, Vaporeon or Flareon when evolving. 
• If you're wondering what the bow in the Pokémon's detail view means: It shows the potential of your monster. That's as far as you can level up this Pokémon. If the bow is half full and it shows a CP of 300, this Pokémon can reach a CP of about 600 by leveling up. That way you can make sure if it is worth your time at all.
• The "Nearby" feature is the worst functioning feature in the game - basically nothing works here. If you see the silhouette of a Pokémon you'd like to have, you should walk around like crazy and pray for luck. Nobody really knows which distance is implemented by the up to 3 footprints and anyhow, in the moment this part is so buggy, that it always shows you 3 footsteps. Also the green blinking that is supposed to show you, if you're walking in the right direction doesn't seem to work properly...
• Different times of day bring different Pokémon.
• To breed the eggs you can receive from PokéStops, you have to put them into incubators and then walk 2, 5 or 10 kilometres. The game explicitly says that you have to do this by foot and how it is calculated in the end... nobody knows that either. Either way I can tell you, that some of the slow 100 metres while riding a train are added to your total count but most of them aren't. And for your kilometre account to rise, naturally your game has to be running - not just in the background or with turned off display, but running!
• PokéStops are activated by spinning the photo disc, if you're close enough. You don't have to collect the items it throws out one by one. If you just leave the Stop all items will be collected automatically. By the way, after about 5 minutes the Stop will be reactivated and can be used anew.
• Battling is a core feature in the usual Pokémon games, but this time it's not that funny. You can only fight in gyms, that were taken by other trainers. First, you can take a look at your opponents and afterwards challenge them with your own Pokémon, which looks like this: tapping on your display like crazy to attack or swipe left and right to evade. Works like a charm. Not... But if you beat all the trainers you can conquer the gym yourself by leaving one of your Pokémon there. I know, you like to give your Pokémon away, Ash, but you should hold on to your strongest - as long as the gym isn't beaten by someone else you won't see your monster again. As a reward for defending a gym you get coins and stardust from the shop once a day.

Maybe my tips help you a little and even if you're miserable at this game or it doesn't load at all - enjoy the walks and trips to the unknown or allegedly known. You will not regret it.

hast du die Schule immer noch nicht abgeschlossen? Wenn wir uns das nächste Mal sehen frage ich das Große 1x1 ab!

Seit ein paar Tagen ist bei uns jetzt auch das lange angepriesene Pokémon Go verfügbar und ich als ewiger Fanboy musste es mir natürlich direkt herunterladen. Die Erfahrungen bisher sind etwas ernüchternd, weil es als Spiel die technisch größte Katastrophe ist, die mir je untergekommen ist... die meiste Zeit über sehe ich den eingefrorenen blauen Ladebalken und den verpeilten Pokémon-Trainer, der gleich in das grimmige Garados hineinläuft. Könntest glatt du sein.

Wenn es dann aber mal läuft, kann es durchaus Spaß machen und hat mich tatsächlich schon öfter als erwartet aus dem Haus und in die lustigen Ecken getrieben. Man läuft von PokéStop zu PokéStop auf der Karte und entdeckt selbst in seiner direkten Nachbarschaft noch Ecken und Dinge, die einen überraschen können. Das Spiel selbst erklärt einem nur leider sehr wenig und dementsprechend versteht man vieles gar nicht. Und ich habe mir gedacht, dass gerade du jemand bist, der sich mit Pokémon nicht auskennt und ein paar Tipps gebrauchen könnte:

• Wenn du das Spiel startest, hast du die Wahl zwischen den ursprünglichen 3 Startern: Glumanda, Bisasam und Schiggy. Meiner Meinung nach eine klare Wahl (Glumanda), aber du kannst auch das Kind mit den besonderes Bedürfnissen sein, das du nun mal bist und dir die Extrawurst schnappen: Wenn du beharrlich von den drei Taschenmonstern davonläufst, taucht eine fette gelbe Ratte auf. Vielleicht ist die ja eher etwas für dich.
• Schmeiß das Spiel immer mal wieder an, wenn du irgendwo bist - neben geografischen Gegebenheiten und besonderen Orten wie Krankenhäusern, Friedhöfen oder Museen wird nämlich auch deine im Spiel zurückgelegte Distanz einbezogen.
• Nimm unbedingt einen mobilen Charger mit, um dein Handy aufzuladen! Das Spiel frisst deinen Akku so schnell leer wie deine Batterieanzeige morgens von 100% auf 99% springt. Eine gute Idee ist den Energiesparmodus im Spielmenü zu aktivieren und die AR-Funktion beim Pokémon-fangen auszuschalten. Das erschwert zwar lustige Screenshots zu machen, spart aber ein paar Prozent... und sofern möglich solltest du natürlich immer mit gedimmtem Display spielen. 
  
• Ich weiß, du handhabst es gerne genau andersherum, aber du solltest bei Pokémon Go wirklich nur die stärksten Pokémon behalten. Grade zu Beginn wirst du wahrscheinlich unzählige Taubsis, Rattfratz, Hornliu und Raupys antreffen - auch wenn sie dich nerven, fang sie und sperr sie in einen engen kleinen Metallball. Behalte das Exemplar mit den besten Werten und schick die anderen über das Pokémon-Menü zum Professor - damit hältst du deinen Stall sauber und bekommst im Gegenzug auch Bonbons. Bevor dir das Wasser im Mund zusammenläuft: Die sind nicht für dich, sondern für deine Pokémon. Damit kannst du sie nämlich entwickeln und aufleveln.
• Aufleveln solltest du am Anfang auf keinen Fall tun. Mit steigendem Trainer-Level triffst du auch auf stärkere Pokémon und wirst froh sein, wenn du deinen Sternenstaub aufgespart hast.
• Kaum etwas bringt so viele Erfahrungspunkte wie das Entwicklen von Pokémon - ein weiterer Grund die ganzen Massenplagen zu fangen. Raupys erste Entwicklung beispielsweise ist schon mit 12 Bonbons zu meistern. Wenn du clever bist, sammelst du so viele Bonbons wie du tragen kannst, aktivierst ein Glücksei und verdoppelst die Erfahrungspunkte in der halben Stunde, in der du dann alles durch die Bank weg entwickelst.
• Evoli entwickelt sich zufällig, außer du kannst diesen netten Trick: Entsprechend der drei Trainer aus der Anime-Serie kannst du dein Evoli Sparky, Rainer oder Pyro nennen und erhältst bei der Entwicklung dann entsprechend Blitza, Aquana oder Flamara.
• Falls du dich wunderst, was der Bogen in der Detailansicht der Pokémon bedeutet: Er zeigt das Potenzial deines Monsters. So weit kann man dieses Pokémon aufleveln. Wenn der Bogen also halb voll ist und CP von 300 angezeigt werden, kann dieses Pokémon circa 600 CP erreichen durch Aufleveln. Daran kannst du festmachen, ob es überhaupt lohnt, sich damit abzugeben.
• Die "In der Nähe"-Funktion ist die am schlimmsten verhunzte Funktion im Spiel - daran funktioniert echt gar nichts. Wenn du dort die Silhouette eines Pokémon siehst, das du gerne hättest, solltest du wie wild herumlaufen und auf dein Glück hoffen. Niemand weiß so ganz genau welche Distanz die bis zu 3 Fußspuren implizieren und neuerdings ist dieser Part ohnehin so verbuggt, dass immer 3 Fußspuren angezeigt werden. Auch auf das grüne Aufblinken, das anzeigen soll, das man in die richtige Richtung läuft, scheint nicht wirklich Verlass zu sein...
• Unterschiedliche Tageszeiten bescheren unterschiedliche Pokémon.
• Um Eier auszubrüten, die man an PokéStops bekommen kann, musst du diese in deine Brutmaschine packen und dann 2,5 oder 10km zurücklegen. Das Spiel sagt gezielt, dass man dies zu Fuß tun soll und wie es letztlich berechnet wird, weiß man auch hier nicht genau. Ich kann dir jedenfalls sagen, dass ab und zu ein paar 100 Meter auf einer Zugstrecke angerechnet werden, die meisten aber nicht. Und damit dein km-Konto überhaupt steigt, muss das Spiel natürlich laufen - nicht nur im Hintergrund oder mit ausgeschaltetem Display, sondern richtig!
  
• PokéStops aktiviert man durch Drehen der Fotoscheibe, wenn man nah genug dran ist. Die Items, die er anschließend ausspuckt, musst du nicht einzeln aufsammeln. Verlässt du den Stop einfach, werden alle Items automatisch aufgesammelt. Nach ca. 5 Minuten reaktiviert der Stop sich übrigens und kann erneut benutzt werden.
• Kämpfen ist ja ein Kernelement in den üblichen Pokémon-Spielen, hier ist es allerdings nicht so spaßig. Kämpfen kann man nur an Arenen, die von anderen Trainern eingenommen wurden. Man kann sich vorab die Pokémon anschauen und dann mit seinen eigenen antreten, nur um anschließend wie blöde auf den Display zu hämmern, um anzugreifen oder nach links und rechts zu wischen um auszuweichen. Funktioniert Null... Wenn man jedenfalls alle Trainer besiegt, kann man die Arena selber einnehmen, indem man eines seiner Pokémon dort lässt. Du gibst deine Pokémon zwar gerne ab, aber behalte zumindest dein stärkstes - solange die Arena nicht erneut von jemand anderem eingenommen wird, wirst du das Monster nämlich nicht wiedersehen. Als Belohnung, dafür, dass du eine Arena hältst, kannst du dir übrigens ein Mal täglich Münzen und Sternenstaub im Shop abholen.

Vielleicht helfen dir meine Tipps ja ein bisschen und selbst, wenn du miserabel in dem Spiel bist oder es überhaupt nicht lädt - genieß die Spaziergänge und Ausflüge ins Unbekannte oder vermeintlich Bekannte. Du wirst es nicht bereuen.
